Both properties are located in Stromness which is in the west of the mainland of Orkney.  Scapa Breakwater apartment is in the heart of Stromness and only a 5 minute walk away from the Northlink ferry terminal, one of the main gateways into Orkney.  Lindisfarne bed & breakfast and self catering is only one mile from the ferry terminal.  Whichever accommodation you may choose it will make the perfect base to explore Stromness and the rest of Orkney whether you are travelling by car or by foot with regular buses also a 5 minute walk away.

Stromness is a historical little town full of charm and character with its cobbled streets winding along the shore front. There are many great walks to enjoy, a lovely playpark for children, a public swimming pool with a steam room and sauna and a fantastic 18 hole golf course offering some of the best views Orkney has to offer.  Other outdoor attractions include boat trips, fishing, cycling, birdwatching or sailing.  Stromness is also the main centre for scuba diving in Orkney.  Indoor attractions include the Stromness Museum, galleries, shops, Pier Arts Centre, pool and leisure centre.

The town also hosts several popular events throughout the year including the Orkney Folk Festival in May, the St Magnus Festival in June, Stromness Shopping Week in July and the Orkney Blues Festival in September

If you want to be a bit more adventurous then why not do a bit of island hopping which is an ideal way to explore the indivdual islands.  We were both brought up on an Island one being from Westray a north Isle and one being from Graemsay a south Isle.  Just hop on the boat from Stromness harbour and take a day trip to Graemsay or Hoy.
